Beaten Vases

Particular choice of beaten Murano glass vases.

The “battuto” is another experimental technique invented in the mid-20th century by the master glassmakers of Murano and is mainly attributed to the master Alfredo Barbini. The master, trying to correct a blowing mistake made by a disciple, became furious by hitting the sides of the vase hard with a tool, thus discovering new shapes and plays of light.

This particular technique was applied by observing metalworking methods and applying it to molten glass.

As the word says, the incandescent mass of glass is “beaten” with hammers or something else to obtain new surfaces and plays of light from the original blown mass.

These objects, with a sculptural and ornamental flavour, give a touch of innovative design to your home.
